TREATMENTWhat to expect

Upon your arrival at the airport you will be greeted by a VIP reception and transportation service that is included  as part of your treatment package. The VIP transportation service will take you from the airport to your hotel. Most of the hotels are located just minutes from the airport and a very short drive from the hospital, ask for suggestions. The evening before your procedure you will meet with one of our nursing staff members which will take you through what to expect the following (treatment) day as well as review all your paperwork such as your informed consents and hospital registration forms. The day of your HIFU procedure, our driver will take you from the hotel to the hospital and will also drive you back after you recover from your procedure.  The night of your procedure you will have access  to a staff member who will also be staying at the same hotel in the event that you have any questions or concerns while recovering.

During the procedure you will receive either spinal anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia depending on what your preference is and what you and your HIFU anesthesiologist decide is most medically appropriate for you.  Either way, you will feel no discomfort and will not be awake during any of the procedure.  Recovery after anesthesia usually takes anywhere from 2 to 3 hours and a dedicated nurse is assigned to you during your recovery process  to monitor all your vital signs.  Once you are awake, alert and able to walk you will be discharged and our driver will transport you and any family member you have accompanying you back to the hotel.

Immediately after HIFU there is a one to two hour recovery period at the treatment facility and then you are discharged to recover comfortably at your hotel. The doctor will prescribe some antibiotics and other medications for after HIFU, but most people don’t experience any pain after the procedure. You may experience some discomfort or body aches which is normal and is temporary. Additionally, in the first one to two weeks after HIFU, you may experience very  mild urinary symptoms such as frequency and/or urgency to void (the compelling urge to urinate, along with discomfort in your bladder), which are also normal and temporary.
